Welcome to MOPS and MOPS NEXT at First Federated Church!

MOPS/MOPS NEXT stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and into the next step -- Elementary school. We exist to meet the needs of every mom -- moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS/MOPS NEXT recognizes that the years of infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. MOPS/MOPS NEXT helps moms through relationships estabilished in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. Come join us at Federated to begin your quest to be the mom God intended you to be!

FREE Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar
April 9, 2013
6:15 - 9:45pm or 6:15 - 8:30pm
Fellowship Hall

We will hear from an expert in the field as well as a panel of survivors including ladies from our congregation who will share their individual stories. Professional nursing CEU’s are provided.

Participation Options: Marabel Kersey, our FFC Parish Nurse, has organized the program so that those who cannot join for the full 3.5 hours may still participate. Segment I (6:30 - 8:15) will address early detection and emotional and spiritual responses to breast cancer and include the panel of survivors. Following a break and refreshments, Segment II will address treatment options (8:30 - 9:45).

To be eligible for CEU's you must attend the entire workshop.

Please join us for either or both segments and invite family and friends!

You may register on-line: Go to www.firstfederated.org ; click on “Sign-Ups” heading and then on “Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop” or registration forms may be dropped off or called into the Adult Ministry Office at 255-2122.

Since we have had two of our members (Jodie and Margie) diagnosed and treated for Breast Cancer in the last year, I think it is VITAL that as many of our members attend this seminar.  BECAUSE OF THIS, we will NOT have our regular meeting on April 9.  WE WILL ATTEND THIS INSTEAD!!!

Be in the know....

It is rare to find a mom who doesn't know a child with ADD or ADHD. The children can be found in churches, Christian homes, well-disciplined families, low income homes, children of affluence, broken homes or ones with two parents who genuinely love them and each other.  It is a condition that each of us needs to know more about because it will touch our family directly or indirectly.

This Tuesday at MOPS/MOMS'  Club we will be having Jody Stevenson of Treasure Chest ministries teaching us about ADD and ADHD.  Come with your question, concerns, and your hearts ready to hear what she has to say to us as moms.

We will also have great food, fellowship,  and a cute Easter Craft.

Invite a friend!

See you at 7:00!!!!!

LOVE is in the AIR!!!!

Love, Love, LOVE!  Love talk is everywhere... from the magazines at the checkout line, to the TV, to romance books, to songs.  Even our kids talk about how much they LOVE mac and cheese or Veggie Tales. When we really look at LOVE, are we doing the right things... loving like we should?  We will discuss this and MORE at our next MOPS meeting... IN TWO WEEKS!!  Tuesday, February 12 at 7PM.

We WILL get to our craft this time, which is a cool photo craft (see the picture below), but we need you to bring part of it with you!  We need you to bring 2 4x6 pictures that we will cut down and put on our 4 inch squares (see the picture below).  This will make a really cool collage that spells I love my family.  We may have enough for you to use more than 2 family pictures, depending on who attends.

Questions?  Email Sarah Lightner (firstfederatedmops@gmail.com).

PS  You may want to bring more than 2 pictures.  You could put one picture on the front and another picture on the back of the square.  Bring a bunch.... it is always great to have several to choose from!

Girls Gone WISE

Are you looking for another way to connect to other ladies in the church and grow in your relationship with the Lord at the same time?  Then you MUST come to the Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild Bible Study on Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8 (with childcare provided) or on Thursday mornings 9am  (no childcare provided).  It is a fabulous study and our own Sharon Johnson will be facilitating the Thursday morning sessions.

Sign up for the class and get more information at http://www.firstfederated.org

"Girls have gone wild! And we're not just talking about someone from the romance novel or star from the latest hit movie. She's the girl next door, your best friend, or someone in your family.  She may even be you.
That's because the longing, the thrill, and the fun is real. Very real.   Mary Kassian isn't naive to that.  But she knows there's another side to it--the devastation and heartache being wild can bring.  Her insights from Proverbs on the differences between a saucy, seductive Wild Thing and a smart, biblically-savvy Wise Thing is a must read. Every minute you spend here will help you--or someone you love--replace the emptiness and guilt of being wild with the power of living out God's spectacular design for women.    But be prepared.  This isn't your grandmother's handbook on etiquette.  It's God's Word powerfully unfolded by someone He's commissioned to speak the truth in love.  You'll be captivated, challenged, and impassioned to be far more than the world's model of the perfect woman.  You read this book and apply its principles and you'll become something your Heavenly Father and Friend has always intended you to be:  A Girl Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild."
